Permits & incentives manager

Job description

We're looking for an organized, detail-driven Permitting & Incentives Coordinator to guide homeowners and business clients through the complex, high-stakes process of permitting, utility interconnection, and securing solar incentives. This role ensures full compliance with local codes and utility requirements — from documentation and inspections to rebate applications — while supporting our larger mission of accessible clean energy.

Key responsibilities:

• Guide residential and commercial clients through local permitting and utility interconnection processes

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building codes, utility requirements, and incentive programs

• Coordinate inspections, prepare documentation, and manage timelines for new installations

• Train field teams and sales staff on permitting requirements and paperwork readiness

• Liaise with permitting offices, utility companies, and internal departments during application and review

• Monitor ongoing compliance and provide corrective action support where needed

• Track and report on permit status, incentive deadlines, and approval timelines

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or related field

• 2+ years experience working with permitting, utility interconnection, or regulatory compliance

• Deep understanding of solar permitting processes and incentive frameworks

• Excellent organizational and documentation skills

• Strong communication skills to work with both field teams and permitting agencies

• Ability to manage multiple permits and jurisdictions simultaneously

• Familiarity with digital permitting platforms or project management tools is a plus

• Willingness to travel for site visits and inspections
